SOME INFO TO HELP U UNDERSTAND:
The reason I am able to offer a repair service to fix damaged laptop motherboards that have bad Video cards or GPU chips, because I've been repairing game consoles for over 4 years now and successfully repaired hundreds of XBOX' 360 , Sony PS3's which break down and fail exactly the same way as laptop motherboards. And using the same Professional game console Repair Equipment and Techniques that Pros use to repair BGA Chip solder connections on PCB circuit boards, I've been able to successfully repair and correct these motherboard issues. This is a technique that isn't known to regular PC repair shop because it was actually adopted from the IPC Electronic manufacturing industry and used by professionals who do repairs on Printed circuit boards with SMT (surface mount technologies).
The cause of these common no video issues is from overheating and heat stress that is exerted on the GPU Chip which over time can only endure so much till its solder connection to the motherboard fractures and disconnects and that is why you get no picture when you power on.
Some signs to look for that indicates your laptop is beginning to fail is when you notice your laptop running really slow and the fans are running on high speed and noticeably loud non stop. This is probably the period between 2-3 years of use.
If your laptop is running slow you should have it reformatted and reinstall windows or system restore and if it still runs slow then it is definitely a hardware problem and I would recommend you to first try and clean out your heat sink and fans with compressed air in a can that you can buy at any electronic or computer shop to clean it out and see if it improves the speed. This will prevent it from breaking down before the chips on the motherboard becomes perminately damaged. If it is still slow then call me and I can tell you what needs to be done to repair the problem.
Usually, my repairs will take no longer than 3-4 hours depending on how busy I am. on average you will get it back the very next day the latest.
Most common laptops that I've been successful repairing this problem are HP, Dell, Toshiba and Acer but any brand of laptop and netbook break down the same way and can be repaired.

- KEEP UR LAPTOP & NETBOOKS ON A FLAT SURFACE AND MAKE SURE ITS NOT HANGING OFF THE EDGE OF THE TABLE BECAUSE SOMETIMES THE TABS OR SPACERS THAT KEEP THE LAPTOP LEVELED ARE NOT ALL TOUCHING THE SURFACE AND WILL CAUSE THE SURFACE TO BLOCK THE INTAKE VENTS OR OPENING WHERE THE FANS DRAW IN AIR. YOU CAN LOOK UNDER UR LAPTOP TO LOCATE WHERE THESE FAN VENTILATION AREA ARE AND MAKE SURE THERE IS SUFFICIENT GAP BETWEEN THE TABLE AND LAPTOP SO THAT AIR CAN BE DRAWN IN PROPERLY. AN EASY FIX WOULD BE TO BUY THOSE TABS OR THOSE THINGS USED TO STICK GLASS TABLES TO PREVENT BREAKING AND STICK THEM ALL AROUND THESE LAPTOP INTAKE VENTS THAT WAY NO MATTER HOW U POSITION UR LAPTOP U CAN BE SURE THERE WILL BE ENOUGH OF A GAP FOR AIR TO BE DRAWN INTO THE FANS.

- G00GLE SPEEDFAN OR JUST GOTO WWW.CNET.COM AND SEARCH FOR A PROGRAM CALLED "SPEEDFAN" , DOWNLOAD THIS PROGRAM AND INSTALL. THIS PROGRAM WILL TELL YOU HOW HOT UR CPU CORES AND GPU CORE TEMPERATURE ARE. GENERALLY A HEALTHY RUNNING OR NEW LAPTOP OR COMPUTER THAT IS CLEAN AND COOLING PROPERLY ON IDLE WHICH MEANS NO PROGRAMS ARE RUNNING THE CORE TEMPS SHOULD BE FROM 40C DEGREES TO 50C
BUT THIS ALSO DEPENDS ON WHICH TYPE OF PROCESSOR YOU HAVE IN UR LAPTOP AND HOW MANY CORES UR CPU HAS. LOOK FOR GPU TEMP IF THEIR IS ONE IT SHOULD RANGE ON IDLE FROM 55C TO ABOUT 65C. KEEP THIS PROGRAM RUNNING AND HAVE IT MONITOR WHILE YOU USE UR PC OR LAPTOP. TRY PLAYING A MOVIE OR JUST SURF THE WEB AND BROWSE A YOUTUBE VIDEO. NORMALLY U WILL NEVER UTILIZE UR CPU & GPU USAGE % MORE THAN ABOUT 10% ON EACH CORE ON AT ONE TIME DOING BASIC OPERATIONS LIKE WEB BROWSING OR PLAYING A MOVIE BUT PLAYING A HIGH GRAPHIC GAME WILL. IF YOU EVER SEE UR CORE OR GPU TEMP REACH HIGHER THAN 80C -100C THEIR IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THE COOLING AND UR LAPTOP WILL FAIL IF THIS CONTINUES. -ONE WAY OF MAKING SURE UR COMPUTER DOESN'T RUN ON HIGH TEMPS IS TO TRY AND REFORMAT OR RESTORE UR PC USING THE WINDOWS RESTORE DISCS BUT IF YOU NOTICE UR PC SUDDENLY STARTED RUNNING SLOWER WITHIN THE LAST FEW DAYS OR VERY RECENT THAT MEANS U HAVE A MALICIOUS VIRUS OR A SPYWARE INFECTED UR WINDOWS OS AND IF U DONT GET RID OF IT THEN IT WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO UR COMPUTER CUZ OF THE HIGH TEMPS AND INTERNET SPEED SLUGGISH. USUALLY IF U ARE INFECTED WITH A VIRUS UR SCANNER SOMETIMES WILL NOT PICK IT UP YOU HAVE TO DO AN EXTERNAL SCAN CUZ VIRUSES ONCE THEY HAVE GOTTEN PASS UR VIRUS PROTECTION WILL NOT BE DETECTED BY INTERNAL SCANNERS YOU CAN TRY AND GOTO www.cogeco.ca/security AND DO THE FREE ONLINE VIRUS SCAN TO BE ABLE TO DETECT THE VIRUS. IF THE SCAN DETECTS A VIRUS AND U REMOVE IT BUT WHEN U RUN THE SCAN AGAIN IT STILL THERE THEN YOU MUST FORMAT AND REINSTALL UR WINDOWS TO MAKE UR PC RUN NORMAL AGAIN. AFTER THIS YOU CAN RUN MSCONFIG AGAIN AND CHECK BACK ONE AT A TIME THE PROGRAMS THAT WERE INITIALLY SET TO STARTUP BEFORE YOU REMOVED THEM AND RESTART UR WINDOWS AFTER EACH ONE TILL YOU FIND THE ONE THAT CAUSES UR WINDOWS TO RUN SLOW. THIS WILL TELL YOU THE STARTUP PROGRAM THAT IS THE CULPRIT USUALLY THE VIRUS OR SPYWARE THAT WAS MADE TO START UP AND ATTACK UR PC. A COMMON MISTAKE PPL MAKE THAT THEY DONT KNOW WHY THEIR BATTERY DONT HOLD CHARGE OR WORK AT ALL IS BECAUSE EVERY TIME YOU ARE FULLY CHARGED AND YOU DISCONNECT UR CHARGER AND ONLY USE A FRACTION OF THAT CHARGED BATTERY AND THEN PLUG BACK INTO UR CHARGER IT SCREWS UP THE BATTERY MEMORY AND AFTER MANY TIMES DOING THIS UR BATTERY WON'T KNOW HOW LONG OR WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY AT IT FULL CHARGED CAPACITY. IF YOU ARE FULLY CHARGED AND YOU HAPPEN TO TAKE IT OFF THE CHARGER AND USE IT ON THE ROAD, MAKE SURE TO FULLY USE THE BATTERY ALL THE WAY DOWN TO CRITICAL LEVELS TILL YOU GET A WARNING FROM WINDOWS TELLING YOU TO PLUG IN IMMEDIATELY. THAT IS WHEN U PLUG IN UR CHARGER AND CHARGE THE BATTERY ALL THE WAY TO 100%. FOR EXAMPLE DONT EVER JUST USE 20% AND THEN PLUG IN AND CHARGE BACK TO 100% BECAUSE EVENTUALLY THE BATTERY WONT KNOW EXACTLY HOW LONG AND HOW MUCH CHARGE IT HAS.
AND ONE LAST THING BELIEVE IT OR NOT BUT ITS ACTUALLY BETTER TO JUST HAVE YOUR LAPTOP POWERED ON AND IN WINDOWS 24/7 RATHER THAN TURNING IT ON AND OFF BECAUSE WHEN U DO THIS U ARE HEATING UP UR CHIPS AND THEN WHEN U TURN OFF THE CHIPS ARE STILL HOT AND THE FAN ISN'T COOLING UR CHIP WHICH WILL MAKE THEM CAUSE THE SOLDER CONNECTION TO FRACTURE AND SLOWLY LOSE A SOLID CONNECTION.
