1981 YZ 465H. Completely stripped and restored, must be seen to appreciate this collector's piece. Good conversation starter, would make a nice vintage racer! Starts first kick, and runs excellent, only about an hour on engine, just ran long enough to work the bugs out. I won't be so ignorant as to call it MINT like 50% of the other bikes on here, but a picture is worth a thousand words. What once began as just a side project for something to do in my spare time, ended up turning into this Beast of a Beauty! I don't know what's wrong with me, once I start something I simply get carried away and can't stop. List of some of the parts recently replaced, I'm sure I will forget some, as there are too many to list.
-crank bearings and seals
-all engine gaskets and seals
-new cast iron sleeve, stock bore
-Wiseco piston
-Moto Tassinari V-Force 3 reed valve
-complete DG exhaust
-stainless steel engine bolt kit
-DC plastics, Wicked Tough decals, fork boots, grips, etc.
-new chain and sprockets, rollers and sliders
-UNI filter
-seat cover
-throttle assembly and cable, clutch cable, and I'm sure there's more that I've overlooked, but have bills to prove.
-updated front suspension with disc brakes (86 YZ 250)
-frame stripped, threads rechased, repainted, original VIN recovered
I did as much R&D as I could to get everything back to the way it looked in 1981. I didn't have any intentions of selling, but too many toys, and need the cash. Now, if I still have your interest, there are a few details which need addressing to make it original. Obviously, the fork setup is #1. The bracket that supports the shock reservoir and the clutch cable is no longer available, and I couldn't get my hands on a used one, therefore I have SS hoseclamps in place. The mudflap that covers the airbox from tire debris is another item that was NLA, was going to make one but decided it would be too ugly and left it at that. The frame has been repaired just under the seat on the back portion of the subframe, but is not visible with seat and plastics mounted. And finally, the CDI strap is missing, CDI is held in place with zip ties and double sided insulated tape to prevent excessive vibration (in stock location). My main objective is to not be misleading to any potential buyers, as I'm sure you have gone to look at one of those "mint" POS's out there and felt like hitting the loser for being a waste of time.
Price is $3000 obo, only trades I might consider would be for a pristine example of an 83-84 CR 480/500 (NOT A "MINT" ONE THOUGH!). Joy riders and tire kickers can piss off, and if you have to ask whether it's a 2 or 4-stroke, you're not man enough for it anyway, so don't waste your own time replying. ;-) To all the serious buyers and owners of vintage bikes: DON'T SCRAP 'EM, RESTORE 'EM, AND THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!!
